´AITO HA´ERE ROUTE | HIKING



MAUNGA PU´I-RANO RARAKU

We start hiking from Pu´i hill using one of the paths people used in ancient times to transport their statues, we will see several fallen along the way, we end our hike in Rano Raraku, the place used as a factory to carved them.

MAHATUA-POIKE-PUAKATIKI-TONGARIKI

The hike starts from Ahu Mahatua climbing to the area of Poike, crossing Maunga (hill) Parehe, Tea tea and Vai a Heva, where we´ll see arqueological areas until we reach the top of the oldest and one of the three principle volcanoes who create the island, Pua Katiki. After appreciating the view we descend until we arrive at Ahu tongariki, which has 15 statues, the biggest platform of Rapa Nui.

AVARANGA UKA-TEREVAKA-AHU AKIVI

Our hike starts gradually from the base of Avaranga Uka on our way to the highest point of the island, Maunga Terevaka with 511 meters which offer a panoramic view of 360º, after enjoying this view, we continue walking down to Ahu Akivi, the only platform on the whole island with seven statues facing the sea..

AHU TEPEU-ANA KAKENGA-TAHAI

Driving from downtown to Ahu Tepeu, where we can appreciate a large ancient village, from there we start hiking along the shoreline with great views of the cliffs and visiting several natural caves that many of them where used as refuges like Ana Kakenga or as it is also known as the “two windows” ending our hike in Ahu tahai, the only moai with eyes on the Island.

VINAPÚ-RANO KAU-ORONGO

First we begin with a visit to Ahu Vinapu, well known for its comparison with the Incas wall in Perú. After we start climbing along the cliff edge to get a view of Rano Kau, one of the three main volcanoes which is the biggest crater on the island, following the edge of its crater until arriving to Orongo village, where the competition of the Birdman took place.

AHU TE PEU-HANGA O TEO-ANAKENA

This is a full day trek, crossing the whole north shoreline. This area is very arqueological but completely destroyed in ancient time by the civil wars. The whole place is untouched, making it unusual to find crowds. This hike takes 5 hours passing through high grasses and rocky paths ending in Anakena beach, where we have lunch and people can swim enjoying the afternoon, and then, returning to downtown..

´AITO HA´ERE ROUTE | BIKKING ROUTE


This option is ideal for those who want to combine hiking and biking and enjoying nature and arqueology with some grade of difficulty with more of an emphasis on outdoors sport, we offer the following biking routes:


FULL DAY

Biking from Hangaroa to Anakena beach (18 kms) on a gradual paved road, ending on the beach to rest and have lunch, after that, we continue biking along the road which goes along the shoreline, stopping at many arqueological places, like Te Pito Kura, papa vaka, and Ahu Tongariki.

RANO RARAKU ROUTE

Leaving from Hanga Roa biking directly to Rano Raraku and visiting Ahu Tongariki.

ANA ROUTE

Around 1 hour approx. biking from Hanga Roa to get to Ahu Akivi and then back along the southwest shoreline visitng caves such as Ana Te Pahu and Te Pora.

MARINE ROUTE

Taking a ride in a boat is the best option if you like the sea, where you can pass by the bird island where the birdman competition took place, also swimming or snorkeling. Diving is also another option, to explore the deep of easter island.

HORSE BACK RIDING

if you like horses, this is another excellent option to appreciate the views and landscape of Rapa Nui, taking you to several very attractive places.
